A rollover motor-vehicle accident at 3:00 AM Sunday morning, April 3rd, awoke Croton's Bravest. Units were dispatched to Croton Avenue in the Town of Cortlandt for an overturned vehicle with no driver or occupants, however New York State Police requested the assistance of the CFD.

Units arrived to find one vehicle on it's roof about 1/2 a mile in from Route 129. The State Police Troopers on scene wanted our help searching the area to make sure no driver or passengers were wounded in the surrounding woods. Temperatures took a nose-dive this weekend, and were hovering around the single-digits.

Performing a thorough grid search using Thermal Imagers, personnel from Engine 118 and Rescue 18 checked the area with no findings. NYSP had verified the car belonged to a resident in neighboring Yorktown and were going to follow up there. As the CFD was clearing the scene, the Troopers were advised the owner - and likely driver of the vehicle - may have been located in Yorktown and were going to verify.

All units cleared the scene at 4:15 AM. 2nd Assistant Chief Pesavento (2083) had command.
