At 9:10 PM this rainy Friday night, a Full Department Response was transmitted for the reported chimney fire at the Half Moon Bay complex. Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) arrived first and established command until the arrival of Car 2081 (Chief Vlad), at which point Colombo took Operations and Vlad assumed Command. Crews were advised by a neighbor that she saw flames from a chimney at building 2. Using Tower Ladder 44's aerial device, personnel went up and investigated, finding what appeared to be a self-extinguished fire. As a precaution, crews checked inside and around the roof area for fire extension and cooled the chimney. The situation was mitigated and #CrotonFire returned to service 45 minutes later. This was call #2 for CFD today, and call #320 for the year. A response of over two dozen CFD volunteers answered this call. Photos courtesy of Lt. D. Kempter (R18) |
