Two Minivans Collide in Morning Accident
By Croton Fire
August 29, 2013
Just after 8:00 this Thursday morning, Croton Fire, EMS and Police responded to a reported motor-vehicle accident with injuries at Maple Street and Old Post Road South in the upper village.
On the arrival of Car 2081 (Chief Munson), he confirmed the two vehicle collision with one patient, and no entrapment. The crews of Engine 118 and Rescue 18 were used to assist EMS removing the female driver from one van, and assisted the CPD with traffic control in the busy intersection.
Once the injured party was out of her vehicle, members utilized the manually operated extrication tool from E118 to remove the driver's side sliding door, which was hanging off the car at the point of impact. This way the vehicle could be towed by A&P Towing safely without the risk of it falling of during transport.
All Croton Fire units returned to service 30 minutes later. Over one dozen CFD volunteers were on scene.
