Overnight MVA on Colabaugh Pond Road
By CFD News Team
May 22, 2013
At 12:15 AM on Wednesday morning, Croton Fire & EMS were dispatched to a single car accident on the eastern end of Colabaugh Pond Road in the Town of Cortlandt. On the assignment were Car 2081, Car 2082, Engine 118 and Rescue 18, on the road minutes after dispatch with a dozen volunteers.
On arrival, units found a sedan that veered off the roadway, struck some large rocks and was virtually "teetering" on the rocks, hanging off an embankment. Using a chain-type come-along from R18, the vehicle was secured to Car 2082's pickup truck. FD personnel assisted Croton EMS removing the driver from the vehicle, then from the marshy area the car was stuck on.
Command held all units on scene during the vehicle's removal, and all units were placed into service at 1:25 AM. The driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center ALS via CEMS 55B2.
