FASTeam on Two Fires in Two Nights
By FASTeam Reporter
December 12, 2015
On Friday night, our FASTeam went south into Ossining for a residential structure fire. On Saturday night, we went south again, only this time into the Village of Briarcliff Manor.
At 8:52 PM Saturday, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department struck the "10-75" for a structure fire at Law Park involving the Pool Pavilion building. Just over one minute later, our FASTeam was on the road bringing over a dozen members to the inferno.
Upon our arrival - some eight minutes later - a heavy volume of fire was coming from the upper level of the structure. Units were experiencing water problems due to a car that drove over their supply hose on Pleasantville Road. Two Tower Ladders and a Ladder Pipe were set up, as well as several hose lines to extinguish the blaze.
With the large number of personnel on hand from the CFD, we were able to offer some to assist with the firefighting efforts. A crew of three forced entry into the lower level to shut down electric, and then another crew assisted with opening up and checking for pockets of fire.
The blaze was brought under control in about 90 minutes, however the CFDFAST and other units remained on scene for about three hours.
In addition to the Briarcliff Manor FD and our response, additional companies were on scene or provided coverage for Briarcliff from Ossining, Millwood, Chappaqua and Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Departments.
