Chimney Fire on Michaels Lane
By CFD News
February 2, 2015
At 9:40 PM on Monday, Croton's Bravest were dispatched to a reported chimney fire on Michaels Lane. Units arrived to find a small fire burning in a metal chimney cap. Car 2081 (Chief Vlad) took "Command" while Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) took "Operations."
First arriving Engine 119 sent their crew inside, while Tower Ladder 44 and Engine 118's crews began placing ladders to access the roof. The interior crew of E119 removed the fire in the wood burning stove, checked the ceiling with the Themal Imager and checked the home for any Carbon Monoxide - which their was none.
The interior crew requested a fan for positive pressure ventilation, which was set up by additional E119 & TL44 personnel. E118 personnel made the roof and confirmed the fire had not spread and was extinguished.
All Croton FD units returned to service about one hour later. A response of over 20 volunteers answered the call.
