Bravest Go To Work at Ossining 2nd Alarm
By CFD Reporting Team
October 29, 2014
Around 10:15 AM on Wednesday, Ossining Fire Department's volunteers arrived to the scene of a well-involved house fire on Edward Street. With fire and smoke showing from the top floor, their Incident Commander, Assistant Chief Matt Scarduzio, transmitted the "10-75," bringing our FAS Team to the scene.
On the arrival of Engine 119, Ossining Command, now Chief Jason Lorenz, reported fire conditions were worsening and he needed the assistance of the Engine 119 crew. Under the charge of Deputy Chiefs Phil Dinkler and John Munson, one crew was sent to the roof and the second advanced a hose line to the top floor of the adjacent dwelling. Once the relief FAST arrived from Thornwood, the hose team's crew began opening up and advancing, knocking down fire in the rear.
With fire conditions worsening, Engine 119 was then used to feed the Ladder Pipe on OFD's Tower Ladder 42. Lt. Roosa handled this task while the remaining CFD personnel continued their suppression operations.
The contingent of 10 CFD volunteers operated for nearly four hours before returning to service.
