School Bus Accident Summons Croton Volunteers
By CFD Reporter 501
December 13, 2013
At about 6:15pm, Croton EMS, on their way back from the hospital, came upon a bus accident at 427 Yorktown Road in the area of the Croton-Harmon School District Transportation garage. Engine 118 and Rescue 18 were then dispatched to the scene.
Croton EMS reported a school bus that had rolled down the ramp of the bus garage and into the guard rail across the street. As a result of this, the guard rail was in the roadway in both lanes of traffic, thus stopping traffic. Car 2082 (A/C Vlad), Engine 118 and Rescue 18 were on the way in minutes, bringing more than a dozen volunteers.
Upon arrival, units stopped traffic from both directions. Firefighters then worked together to lift the guard rail out of the roadway. Car 2082 then reported that the roadway was clear. There were no patients in this accident, so all Croton Fire and EMS personnel were clear of the scene at about 7:00pm.
