FAS Team on Early Morning Ossining Blaze
By Chief John Munson
October 25, 2013
At 4:35 AM the Croton-on-Hudson FD was dispatched Mutual Aid to Ossining for a house fire on Overton Road. On the assignment was Car 2081 and Engine 119 as the Firefighter Assist & Search Team.
On arrival, Croton members took up a position on the A/D corner and B/C corner of the apparently vacant residence. Ossining's Bravest were engaged in a stubborn firefight on the top floor and attic of the home. Due to fire damaging the center stairwell to the upper floor, crews had to resort to portable ladder and entering from windows.
With the bulk of the fire knocked down in about one hour, OFD personnel remained on scene overhauling and checking for hot spots a while longer. Ossining Command (Car 2331) released the Croton FD FAST at about 6:45 AM.
No injuries occurred to civilians or firefighters.
