| On Thursday, June 20th - the Croton-Harmon High School held it's annual graduation ceremony for the Class of 2013.
Among the Seniors graduating were two of Croton's Bravest - William Vlad Jr. and Carlton Sargeant.
Both of these young men served as members of Explorer Post 2089 and the Probationary Active Firefighter program prior to their 18th birthday, when they became full-fledged firefighters in the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.
Mr. Vlad continues a family tradition in the CFD. His Father, Bill Vlad, has served two terms as Chief and currently is serving as First Assistant Chief. William's sister Taylor is a member of the Explorer program, his Uncle Dan Vlad, cousin Dan Vlad Jr. are members, his Grandfather Ray Calore Sr. was a Life Member and Uncle Ray Calore Jr. was an Ex-Captain, prior to moving out of town. William is an active member of Harmon Engine Company No. 3, and is heading to SUNY Pottsdam in September.
Mr. Sargeant joined the CFD just over a year ago and has been a common fixture at Grand Street Firehouse since. Carlton recently became an active member of Columbian Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, and is staying local - attending SUNY Purchase this fall.
The department is proud to have these two as part of our family, and wishes them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors. |
