| The Sun was shining on Croton for what turned out to be a beautiful day to celebrate Memorial Day.
The men and women of Washington Engine Company No. 2 held their annual breakfast ceremony at their firehouse on North Riverside Avenue. As they have done for years, they paid tribute to their company's deceased members, as well as those members who served in the Armed Forces. Village Trustee Kevin Davis was present, and reminded folks that the street names in our village that have a star next to the name indicate Croton residents that have been killed in action. Most streets in our village are named after veterans, many of whom served in the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department as well.
After, several members from all five CFD companies, and Explorer Post 2089, assembled at Veterans Corners for the annual Memorial Day service hosted by the local VFW. The emcee of the event was Croton resident, Veteran and Ex-Captain of Harmon Engine Company. Like has has done for several years now, Pat did an outstanding job paying tribute to all veterans.
The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department thanks Maria Cudequest for sharing her photos on her blog, which can be found here:
