This past weekend, a half dozen of Croton's Bravest were amongst over 50 area firefighters that participated in an Advanced Vehicle Extrication Class given by Signal 73 Fire Training, LLC. in Chappaqua.

Hosted by the Bedford Hills Fire Department, members from Bedford, Bedford Hills, Croton Falls, Croton-on-Hudson, Katonah, Millwood, Sleepy Hollow, Port Chester, West Harrison, Bridgeport and Greenwich Fire Companies spent two full days going over the basics of vehicle stabilization, extrication and lifting while also putting these skills to use in significant simulated scenarios.

These scenarios included vehicles on their side, vehicles on their roof, vehicles on top of other vehicles, vehicles through other vehicles, objects on vehicles, vehicles down embankments and more. Personnel in attendance got hands-on experience with various hydraulic, battery-operated, electric, gas-powered and pneumatic rescue tools as well - something not often done due to the lack of vehicles to train with.

On behalf of the Croton FD, we thank Signal 73, Bedford Hills FD and Castle Auto & Towing for making this incredible training opportunity a reality for all of us.
