This week, members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department completed Ice Rescue Training thanks to the instructors at Northeast Squad Concepts. On Sunday, January 31st, we went to Kaplan's Pond on Lounsbury Road to put what we learned earlier in the week via Zoom to use.

Members reviewed ice safety, equipment uses, self-rescue, victim rescue, single-rescuer and team rescue techniques.

This type of training is invaluable, as Croton is almost surrounded by water between the Hudson River, Croton River, Croton Reservoir and a number of ponds and lakes.

Our appreciation is extended to our friends at NESC and to Croton EMS for standing by during a very cold Sunday training day.
