Around Noon on Tuesday, December 15th, the Lake Mohegan FD was dispatched to the area of Young Street and Oregon Road in the Town of Cortlandt for multiple reports of a house fire.

Shortly after responding, units could see the smoke from a distance and a Chief of the Putnam Valley FD confirmed the fire, prompting LMFD Car 2262 to strike their Working Fire assignment. Upon arrival, heavy fire conditions - hampered by gusting winds - were present and threatening a neighboring home, so a 2nd Alarm was transmitted at 12:10 PM, bringing in our Engine 119 as an additional Firefighter Assist & Search Team.

On arrival, fire was still running throughout the home and firefighters from Mohegan and neighboring districts were heavily engaged, operating as many as five hose lines at one time. Our team members stood by and monitored building & fire conditions as well as kept accountability of those working inside until we were released just before 3PM.

With Engine 120 out for a mechanical issue, a crew was placed on standby with Engine 118 during this incident to cover our own district.
