Around 4:20 PM on Sunday, May 3rd, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department was dispatched to Route 9 for a reported motorcycle accident involving a high speed collision and fire. Assigned were Car 2082, Car 2083, Engine 119, Engine 120, Tanker 10, Rescue 18, Utility 14 and Utility 208.

Upon the arrival of Car 2082 (A/C Munson) he reported one motorcycle off the roadway on fire, with one victim down in the roadway in critical condition. Personnel from E119 & T10 were assigned the fire attack group, while R18 assisted Ossining EMS 74A1 with patient care and E120, U14 & U208 aided with traffic control. Under the command of A/C Karpoff the fire was knocked down swiftly while members of R18's crew packaged the patient for EMS and assisted with life-saving measures.

Apparatus and members remained on scene for about 3 hours to assist with the Accident Reconstruction effort. While all units operated on the highway, Engine 118 stood by at Station 1 to cover any additional alarms in district. Croton EMS - already on another traumatic injury call with one Ambulance, was cancelled to this scene with their second Ambulance.

The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced at Westchester Medical Center shortly after arrival, and the driver of another car that was involved was evaluated by Croton FD and Ossining EMS personnel on scene, but he declined any medical treatment or transport.
