On Tuesday, October 3rd around 11:12 PM, the Croton-on-Hudson FASTeam was dispatched with the Yorktown Heights Fire Department to 1500 Front Street in Yorktown for a report of a dumpster on fire next to a larger commercial structure. The first-arriving YHFD Unit, Car 2531, updated all units that he had a working structure fire and struck out their "10-75" assignment.

As our Engine 119 was pulling out of the firehouse, Yorktown Command upgraded the alarm to a Second Alarm, bringing additional resources to the scene. Based on the size of the building and the potential fire load, we deployed Utility 14 with additional FASTeam members. Between E119, U14 and Car 2082 we were able to provide 15 members for the role of two dedicated FASTeams.

Yorktown's Bravest was able to make quick work and get the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Crews from the YHFD - as well as Mohegan, Somers and Bedford Hills - worked together to vent the large building of smoke and open up, seeking out hidden pockets of fire. The CFD units were released from the scene after about 2 hours, at which time we returned to our district.
