This past Monday night, Croton's Bravest traveled to the Westchester County Fire Training Center for a night of training. The subject of this evening's drill was initial operations at a structure fire.

Personnel were split up into five squads for the evolution's, including Primary Search, Initial Attack, Backup Team, Safety Line and a FASTeam. Our Explorer Post 2089 members provided suport assistance on the exterior of the building while Interior Firefighters ran through the scenario's.

The given scenario each time - which was done three times - was an early morning/overnight dispatch to the report of smoke in a 2nd floor apartment over a delicatessen. Crews located fire (propane-fed fire props) on the first floor and on the second floor, and rescued victims (training dummies) each time.

Training like this is important to our organization. It provides us with a good review of operations at fires like there, it allows our members to work with one another and it points out any areas where we need improvement. Since we had so many members in attendance, we had Mutual Aid coverage put into our station from the Verplanck FD and Lake Mohegan FD. Thanks, VFD & LMFD!

We may be five different companies, but we are one department that always strives to provide the highest level of service that we can!
