A Pair of Vehicle Accidents in Village on Wednesday

At 12:12 PM on Wednesday, Engine 119 (Washington), Engine 118 (Chemical), Rescue 18 (Fire Patrol) and Croton EMS were dispatched to the north end of the village on Albany Post Road for a single car accident.

On scene, units found an elderly female in an Audi that went off the roadway heading northbound, that struck a large rock and was substantially damaged. Car 2089 (DC J. Munson) assumed command initially and held with R18 and E119, returning E118 to service. Car 2081 (Chief Mansfield) arrived and assumed command minutes later. One elderly female patient was taken ALS to Westchester Medical Center with reportedly non-life-threatening injuries. CFD remained on scene until the vehicle was removed by a local tow company. The CFD returned to service about 45 minutes later.

Just shy of four hours later, at 4:11 PM, Car 2089 witnessed a two-car collision at Cleveland Drive and Emerson Avenue. On this assignment was Engine 120 (Harmon), Engine 119 and Rescue 18. Car 2082 (AC Colombo) arrived and assumed command, with 2089 assuming Operations. The two vehicles collided as the eastbound car was making a left turn on to Emerson Avenue, and the other vehicle - proceeding west on Cleveland - struck it. All 3 occupants from the two cars were able to exit their cars, with the driver of one vehicle experiencing a laceration to the head. He was taken BLS by Croton EMS to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation, and the other two parties - including a young child - declined medical attention. CFD remained on scene closing the road and awaiting the tow trucks to remove both vehicles. Units cleared about 40 minutes later.
