A car fire on the southbound Croton River Bridge snarled traffic this New Year's Eve morning.

Croton's Bravest were called to a fully involved car fire at 7:42 AM. Tanker 10 arrived first and put a 1 3/4" line to work knocking down the bulk of the blaze. Engine 118 arrived next and was assigned to put a foam line to work on the burning fuel and fuel tank.

T10 also switched over to foam to finish extinguishment of the fire, which involved a 2011 Subaru.

No injuries were reported by the driver or firefighters. All personnel cleared the scene and the highway was reopened 40 minutes later.

Thanks to Captain Mike Hanney of Montrose FD for the use of his photos, as well as CFD members B. Garcia and C. Rinaldi.
