At 2:18 AM on Friday, Croton's Bravest were dispatched to an Emerson Avenue home for a reported electrical fire. Car 2089 (Deputy Chief John Munson) arrived roughly one minute later and transmitted a "10-75" for a confirmed structure fire. He reported fire on the D-side (right side) of a single-story wood-frame house, all occupants were out and the home's electrical service was down in the roadway.

Car 2081 (Chief Vlad) arrived and took Emerson Command, while Car 2083 (Asst. Chief Colombo) took Operations. Engine 119 arrived first, stretched a 200' 2" attack line and secured a hydrant. The crews from WECO split up, hitting the fire from outside on the deck and opening up the walls and ceiling inside while simulataneously conducting a search for any victims. Engine 118's crew assisted Engine 119's crews opening up interior walls and ceiling and checking for fire extension.

Personnel from Engine 120 and Rescue 18 provided exterior support, setting up several portable lights and providing drinking water to our personnel. A FAS Team from Ossining and a cascade unit to fill air bottles from Buchanan were on scene and released within 20 minutes, with Command placing the fire under control at 2:35 AM. Croton EMS and the Tri-Community Paramedic were also on scene.

A fire investigator from the Westchester County Cause & Origin Team was on scene, as well as Battalion 10 from WCDES.

With the fire contained to the areas of origin, and after placing a tarp to cover up the opened wall area, all units cleared the scene at about 4:30 AM. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. Coverage in Croton was provided by Montrose E121 & Ossining L41.

The CFD had close to 40 volunteers on scene. Thanks to our Mutual Aid partners for their prompt responses.
