On Sunday evening around 7:00 PM, Croton-on-Hudson's Tanker 10 was dispatched to a working house fire in southern Yorktown. T10 - with Car 2083 (Colombo) and a total of 8 members - took in the assignment. The fire was located on Kitchawan Road, also known as Route 134, in a two story residence. Yorktown and Millwood firefighters were on scene launching an aggressive interior attack when our units arrived.

The Croton crew was split in to two crews, with one crew going to the top floor to conduct a search and open up, while the other crew checked the first floor then went to work in the basement where the fire was located. The second floor crew rescued one of many cats in the home and took it outside to be assisted.

CFD units remained on scene about two and a half hours, once the fire was under control. A solid effort by Yorktown, Millwood and the other Mutual Aid companies kept the fire from getting beyond the basement.

During this incident, other WECO members staffed Engine 119 with eleven members, and the other four CFD companies kept crews on standby due to the weather.
