At 3:42 PM on Sunday, a cell phone caller to 911 reported a dryer was on fire at the Laundromat in the shopping center along the 400-block of South Riverside Avenue. A structural fire box was dispatched, bringing a full department response from Croton and a Tower Ladder from Ossining.

On the arrival of Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) he reported an active fire in a dryer with a heavy smoke condition and that the business was evacuated. First arriving Engine 119, with a crew of 5, took side A and hooked their own hydrant and stretched a 200 foot 2" preconnected hose. The crew, splitting into two, made entry and located the fire while simulataneously securing electic and gas. While the bulk of the fire was knocked down using the 2.5 gallon pressurized water extinguisher, the remainder called for the use of the hose line.

Engine 118 (crew of 5), Engine 120 (crew of 3), Tower Ladder 44 (crew of 4) and Rescue 18 (crew of 3) arrived soon after. E118 took up a position on side C, securing their own hydrant and worked with OFD Tower Ladder 42 gaining entry and accessing the roof. E120, TL44 & R18 took position on side A and assisted with ventilation and mop up.

Command placed the fire "under control" at 4:08 PM, and all units returned to service at 4:35 PM. A total response of Croton and Ossining volunteers of close to 30 was on scene.
