A stubborn fire within a mulch / yard waste pile including large logs in the Town of Mount Pleasant kept area firefighters busy this week.

On Tuesday morning, Briarcliff Manor FD was dispatched to the Mount Pleasant Sportsman's Club on Clay Bird Lane for an outside odor of smoke. Upon their arrival, they found a significant amount of fire in the 50-60 foot high pile. With no fire hydrants nearby, a call went out for Mutual Aid Tankers.

Around 8:35 AM, Croton's Tanker 10 was added to the box. Working with Tankers from Bedford Hills, Continental Village, Pocantico Hills, Yorktown Heights, Millwood and Pleasantville, units shuttled over 120,000 gallons of water to the scene to feed Briarcliff's TL40. Tanker 10 was placed back into service around 2:30 PM.

Wednesday, almost at the same time, units were called back to the same scene. Answering the call for the second day in a row was Tanker 10, as well as Tankers from Bedford Hills, Continental Village, Pocantico Hills, Millwood and Pleasantville. Due to a mechanical issue the prior day, Briarcliff's TL40 was unavailable, and Chappaqua's TL27 was utilized.

Tanker 10 returned to service in Croton around 2:30 PM.
