Around 7:30 PM this Saturday evening, Croton Fire units were called on investigate an unusual substance along the shore near the Croton Sailing School. A "Haz-Mat Box" was dispatched bringing E119, R18, M32 and the Montrose VA Haz-Mat team to the scene. At the scene, Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) established command, and had the crew of R18 place booms at the mouth of the drain where the milky substance seemed to originate. Meanwhile, the crew of E119 checked catch basins, drains and other possible sources along South Riverside Avenue. After a thorough investigation, and consultation with Haz-Mat officials, the incident was deemed non-hazardous, and units returned to service around 9:00 PM. |
