Croton's Bravest were called to the laundromat on Grand Street at Harrison Street around Noon on Friday for the reported gas leak. On the assignment were Car 2082, Engine 118, Engine 119 and Rescue 18.

Car 2082 (AC Vlad) arrived first and established Grand Street Command. He then relayed to 60 Control there was a definite odor of gas in the three-story building, and units would be investigating and evacuating.

Personnel from the two Engine Companies began looking for the source of the leak and evacuating residents from the apartments above. Con Edison arrived shortly after the FD and turned off service to the building.

Code Enforcement was notified and the scene was turned over to Con Edison and FM25 around 12:40.

A response of about 20 CFD volunteers were on hand.
