Volunteers Extricate One from Route 9 Rollover

A car and a tractor-trailer collided, with the sedan rolling over on to it’s roof around 10:30 this morning on Route 9 Southbound on the north end of the Village.
One of our members driving to school was passing by and notified dispatch there was one party trapped in the car. Car 2081 (Chief Colombo) was first-arriving, reporting one vehicle on it’s roof and confirming the entrapment.
Engine 119 arrived and began to assess the scene and formulate a rescue plan under the charge of Assistant Chief Munson. Working with personnel from Rescue 18, Utility 14 and Engine 120, a rapid removal of the driver’s door was made using the “Jaws of Life.”
Firefighter/EMTs helped remove the elderly female driver from the car and on to a longboard, then loaded her on to a stretcher so Croton EMS personnel could evaluate and transport her to Westchester Medical Center for assessment of non-Life-Threatening injuries.
Units remained on location for 45 minutes awaiting removal of the car by a local Tow.
Over a dozen COHFD Volunteers were on scene.
