On a hot, humid Monday, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the northern end of Ossining. Answering the 1PM call was Engine Company 119 with a compliment of one dozen CFD volunteers. Originally dispatched as a FASTeam, we were advised on the way in to the box that our crew would be needed to assist with the fire attack. At this point the "10-75" was struck by Ossining Command, and an additional FASTeam from the Yorktown Heights FD was dispatched.

Upon the arrival of Car 2082 (A/C Colombo), he assisted interior crews from the OFD and provided them the help of a Thermal Imaging Camera carried in his Fire SUV. E119 arrived a few minutes later, and members conducted a 360 size up of the fire building, threw multiple ground ladders and split into two teams - one to assist with the fire attack, one to continue as a FASTeam. Due to the brutally hot weather - as well as the severe heat within the fire building - firefighters were being rotated out and into rehab quickly to avoid any heat-related injuries to the firefighters.

Thanks to a well-orchestrated, aggressive interior fire attack, the fast-moving blaze was contained to one unit in the building. CFD members remained on scene assisting the OFD for just over three hours.
