A hot and busy Monday for Croton's Bravest this week. Our volunteers responded to five calls between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, one of which was a well-involved house fire in Verplanck.

At 08:23 our FASTeam was dispatched on Automatic Aid to the Yorktown Heights Fire District for a reported oven fire. With the fire out upon the arrival of YHFD, the CFD returned to service minutes later. Car 2089 & Engine 119 handled the FAST assignment.

Next, at 09:36, an activated fire alarm at a North Riverside Avenue business was set off in error, when an electrician accidentally cut a fire alarm wire. Car 2084, Engine 119, Engine 120, Tower Ladder 44 & Rescue 18 assigned. Car 2084 had Engine 119 remain on scene for paperwork, and returned the other units which arrived seconds later.

At 13:57, units were sent to a residential fire alarm activated by accident at a Nordica Drive residence. Car 2088, Tower Ladder 44 & Rescue 18 handled it.

Following that incident, at 15:38, the CFD FASTeam was dispatched to a working house fire in the Verplanck Fire District. While assembling a crew at Station #2 for Engine 119, the Verplanck Incident Commander requested Tanker 10 to their headquarters for coverage. Car 2083 and Engine 119 took in the FAST request to the scene, while Car 2081 & Tanker 10 went to Verplanck HQ. E119 returned to Croton around 5PM, with T10 returning about 45 minutes later. 22 of Croton's Bravest handled these Mutual Aid requests, while keeping ample personnel in our district for any additional incidents.

Operating at the Verplanck fire were units from Verplanck FD, Montrose FD, Montrose VA Hospital FD, Buchanan FD and Croton FD. Coverage of the area was provided by Buchanan, Montrose, Croton, Continental Village and Mohegan Fire Departments.

Investigators have labeled this fire suspicious, and if anyone has any information about it, please call New York State Police at (914) 737-7171.

Thank you to Kempter's Fire Wire and C. Cardenas, D. Rinaldi and R. Picciano for their photos.

Units: 2081, 2083, 2084, 2088, 2089, E119, E120, TL44, T10, R18. FASTeam
