Members Train on Air Bags & Cribbing
By Deputy Chief John Munson
April 9, 2015
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings this week, several of Croton's Bravest underwent training on the use of our Rescue Air-Bags and Cribbing materials. The training - provided by Connecticut Custom Cribbing - involved one evening of classroom lecture and one evening of hands-on practical work.
The instructors, whom work for the City of New York Fire Department and volunteer locally, offered a great deal of information on this vital equipment. The practical portion commenced on Thursday evening behind our Station #1 on Grand Street. Here, CFD volunteers worked with the air-bags and cribbing to lift and stabilize two vehicles and a large construction dumpster.
The training - attended by members from all companies and levels of experience - was an invaluable refresher training session, and taught everyone involved many new tactics.
Our thanks to the guys at Connecticut Custom Cribbing for an excellent program. Be sure to check out their Facebook page at the link below.
Thanks also to C. Conti & J. Ferguson for their photos.
