FAST Goes to Ossining Fire, 2nd This Month
By Deputy Chief John Munson
February 20, 2015
On a blustery Friday evening, the Ossining Fire Department was dispatched to a reported shed fire on Narragansett Avenune in that village. A first arriving OFD member reported to their Chief the shed fire had communicated to the adjacent house, and the "10-75" was transmitted.
At 5:08 PM, the Working Fire Assignment was dispatched, bringing the Croton-on-Hudson FD to the scene as the Firefighter Assist & Search Team. Responding were Car 2083 (Colombo) and Engine 119 with a total of # volunteers.
Upon arrival, the team of 8 placed some ladders, conducted a 360 degree assessment of the home, split into two crews and staged on the A/B & A/D corners - due to snow hindering access.
Due to an aggressive interior fire attack, Ossining's Bravest knocked the fire down in fairly short order, and the CFD units were back in service at 6:32 PM.
During this incident, other Croton Fire units handled a motor-vehicle accident in a shopping center parking lot on Maple Street. Handling this call was Car 2082 (Mansfield), Engine 120 and Rescue 18.
Thanks to OFD FPO 1 & CFD Members 479, 484, 501 for the use of these photos.
