Croton Fire Department Explorers Training Night
By PAF Tommy Kaplan
December 10, 2014
On Wednesday night, members of the Croton Fire Department Explorer Post 2089 trained on "donning" their gear. The senior members of the post taught the upcoming members the proper way to put on their turnout gear in the quickest, most efficient way. All CFD members - including the junior members - are issued a set of personal protective gear in which they are expected to wear at all incidents to protect them from hazards. The explorers orchestrated gear races, to introduce some competition into the night's training exercise. The Junior Fire Department trains and meets at least twice a month, to prepare the boys and girls for when they take NYS firefighter classes and become full-fledged members of the Croton Fire Department. If anyone between the ages of 14-17 is interested in joining the CFD Explorer Post, please call (914) 271-2693 or email memberinfo@crotonfd.org for information on how to join.
