Odor of Smoke at Hale Hollow Home
By First Due Reporter
June 26, 2014
Around 8:45 AM this Thursday, a Full Department Response was dispatched to a home on Hale Hollow Road in the Town of Cortlandt. Within minutes, three Engines, the Tanker and the Rescue - along with Car 2084 (Deputy Chief G. Munson) were responding.
On the arrival of Car 2084, he reported nothing showing from the exterior of the home and established "Hale Hollow Command." Less than a minute later, Engine 119 & Tanker 10 arrived, followed by Engines 118 and 120 seconds later, then Rescue 18.
The crews inside confirmed the odor of smoke on the main level of the home, and by process of elimination tested different electrical circuits until pinpointing the source. That source was a malfunctioning transformer in an LED lamp within a ceiling light fixture. The affected circuit was turned off and owner was instructed to contact an electrician.
All CFD companies returned to service around 9:20 AM. A response of almost 20 volunteers answered the call.
